Genetic Counsellor

Jasmina is an enthusiastic Genetic Counsellor with more than 17 years of extensive experience in the field of cancer genetics. Her expertise ranges from fundamental science laboratory skills and coordinating multi-institutional genetic patient studies to delivering comprehensive clinical genetic counselling. She is passionate about providing patients with appropriate genetic care and support, so they understand the implications of genetic information for themselves and their families, and make informed decisions about their health.


Jasmina also holds a position as a genetic counsellor with the Austin Clinical Genetics Department. In this capacity she coordinates the High-Risk Management Clinic, specifically designed for women at high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer due to hereditary gene mutations. In her previous role at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas, she helped establish the Li-Fraumeni Syndrome Education and Early Detection (LEAD) program for managing adult and pediatric patients with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, one of the first such multidisciplinary clinics at the time.


Jasmina holds a Bachelor of Biotechnology and Biomedical Science from RMIT University, Post-Graduate Diploma in Genetic Counselling and Master of Science (Molecular Genetics) from University of Melbourne. She completed her Honors and Masters research projects through the Cancer Biology and Tissue polarity laboratory at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, focusing on functional analysis of novel tumour suppressor genes. More recently, she completed Clinical Ethics studentship through MD Anderson Cancer Centre, further enhancing her clinical skillset and expanding her capacity to deliver compassionate patient care.


Jasmina is a registered member of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia and Australasian Society of Genetic Counsellors.



Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two children, finding new coffee spots with friends, and training for marathons.
